Solarize and Subtract Background in Photoshop

Hey everyone,

I've put together a fresh tutorial where I dive into transforming the background of a photo to give it a unique twist. It’s a fun project that plays around with a few Photoshop tools to achieve a striking effect.

We start off by duplicating our photo layer to keep our original safe. Then, using Photoshop's 'Select Subject' feature, we isolate our main subject with precision. From there, we invert our selection to focus on the background, which is where the fun begins.

Next up, we apply the 'Solarize' effect from the stylize filter options, giving the background an intriguing look. To blend this effect smoothly with our subject, we add a layer mask and adjust the blending mode to subtract. This step alone dramatically changes the vibe of our photo.

But we're not stopping there. I show you how to fine-tune the effect by adjusting the opacity, creating a more subtle blend that still packs a punch. And for the finishing touch, we use the spot healing brush to clean up any distractions, making sure our subject truly stands out.

This tutorial is great for anyone looking to experiment with their photos or learn some new Photoshop techniques. It's all about getting creative and seeing how small adjustments can make a big difference.

Hope you find it useful and it sparks some ideas for your own photo projects!

Catch you in the tutorial!

Cheers!
